Mont Ruan, originally uploaded by <<<...Buddhamountain....
A dear friend bought me “Trekking in the Alps” for Christmas. A nice glossy summary of 20 classes routes. But where to start?
I’m quite fancying the Tour of Mont Ruan. There’s dinosaur footprints and no guidebook. It’s also 5-6 days so doable in a weeks holiday maybe?
There’s long term goals of Tour of Mont Blanc and HRP also in my head, so this might be a good introduction.
The good news, there’s a website www.tourduruan.com, the bad it’s in French. This seems to suggest 4 stages, so I guess the summit side trips make it longer.
Let the research begin!

Hi Susan -
Your striking choice of photo caught my eye, and then I read that you were struggling to read the French on http://www.tourduruan.com. I’m quite an experienced Alpine walker and (to a modest level) mountaineer, so I could be useful if you’re looking for a bit of help to get the key information. You could just copy and paste any bits that look particularly significant into an email, and I’d do you a rough translation. (That assumes of course that you have sufficient, rudimentary knowledge of the language to be able to work out which are the key bits! If not, let me know, and we can think again.)
Looks like a lovely area!

Richard

Thanks! very generous offer, which I may well take you up on as I start to plan a bit more.
OK Susan. I’ll keep a look out for an email about this, in case you should decide to ask. I love the Alps, so it would be a pleasure to assist!

Richard
